Fun Day is only a week away!
PLEASE REMEMBER NEXT SATURDAY, June 6, IS OUR FUN DAY. THIS IS OUR MAJOR FUNDRAISER FOR THE YEAR AND IN ORDER TO KEEP OUR PROGRAM AT THE QUALITY LEVEL THAT WE WANT, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
WE WILL START THE DAY WITH A PARADE THAT WILL BEGIN AT BROWN STREET AND DIVISON (DIRECTLY NORTH OF THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH) AND END AT JAMES STREET PARK. DETAILS ON THE PARADE WILL BE SENT THROUGH THE LEAGUE SPOKESPERSONS AND WILL BE FOUND ON THIS WEBSITE ALSO. TRUCKS MAY BE USED TO TRANSPORT THE CHILDREN. PLEASE, THOUGH, PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE INSTUCTIONS FOR DROPPING OFF CHLDREN AND LINING UP THE VECHICLES THAT ARE LISTED BELOW.
WE WILL HAVE A BRIEF OPENING CEREMONY. THIS WILL INCLUDE THE THROWING OUT OF THE CEREMONIAL FIRST PITCH AND OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS. THIS YEAR’S GRAND MARSHALS EVELYN FUQUA, KHRISSY HOLLISTER, AND TEAGAN MARRON, WILL EACH THROW OUT A FIRST PITCH.
WE WILL RECOGNIZE THE CONTESTANTS AND WINNERS IN OUR PITCH, HIT, AND RUN COMPETITION.
GAMES WILL BEGIN AT 10:00 AND WE WILL PLAY ALL DAY. BARBECUE WILL BE SERVED IN THE LATE MORNING AND THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
EACH COACH HAS BEEN PROVIDED THEIR WORK ASSIGNMENT AND EACH TEAM HAS A VITAL ROLE IN HELPING DURING THE DAY.
THERE WILL BE A SILENT AUCTION, GAMES AND BOUNCE HOUSES, SNO-CONES, COTTON CANDY AND ALL THINGS THAT WILL MAKE FOR WHAT WE HOPE IS TRULY A FUN DAY FOR ALL.
THE SOUTHERN ILLINOIS MINER’S WILL BE PRESENT TO PROMOTE THE TRI-C DAY ON JUNE 14. WE HAVE, ALSO, BEEN TOLD THAT IS SUPER HEROS DAY AT RENT-ONE FIELD.
THERE WILL BE A CANNED FOOD DRIVE SPONSORED BY RSP HEATING AND COOLING. THE FOOD COLECTED WILL BE TAKEN TO THE MINER’S GAME ON JUNE 10 AND THE DISTRIBUTED TO OUR LOCAL FOOD PANTRY.
THE JUNIOR HIGH FOOTBALL TEAM WILL BE REGISTERING PLAYERS ON THAT DATE, TOO.

LEAGUE SPOKESPERSONS PLEASE INFORM ALL THE COACHES AND COACHES, LIKEWISE, TO ALL THE PARENTS, OF THE FOLLOWING.
In order to assist in making the parade run as smoothly as possible, please, follow the following recommendations.
First we ask that no one, other than those driving vehicles that will be in the parade, drive on Brown Street. Instead, we ask that those individuals dropping off children do so at the designated intersections listed below.
Using Missouri-Pre-K and Shetland children should be dropped off at the corner of Missouri and Brown.
Using Pennsylvania-Pinto should be dropped off at the corner of Pennsylvania and Brown.
Using McNeil-Mustang should be dropped off at the corner of McNeil and Brown.
Using Jackson-Bronco and 11U should be dropped off at the corner of Jackson and Brown.
Vehicles transporting Pre-K should enter on to Brown from Missouri and line-up in the smaller First Baptist Church lot, which is north of Brown Street.
Vehicles transporting Shetland should line-up in the larger First Baptist Church lot which is located south of Brown Street.
Vehicles transporting Pinto should enter Brown Street from Pennsylvania and line-up on Brown between Missouri and Pennsylvania.
Vehicles transporting Mustang should enter Brown Street from McNeil and line-up on Brown between Pennsylvania and McNeil.
Vehicles transporting Bronco and 11U should enter Brown Street from Jackson and line-up on Brown between McNeil and Jackson.
THE PARADE WILL LEAVE AT 8:30 SHARP! WE SHOULD BEGIN LINING UP AT 8:00. PLEASE, TELL EACH PARENT TO HAVE THE CHILDREN THERE BY NO LATER THAN 8:20.
The cooperation of all is needed to make this a positive experience.

Random Thoughts and Obvious Observations and a Few Relevant Questions:
Has the uniqueness of the Cicadas run its course with you? It sure has me! As a lover of nature and the beauty it offers the sounds were at first a pleasure. Of late, the noise has become most irritating. When mowing yesterday, I was almost under attack by these creatures. Truly wish them no harm, but not sure the next two weeks will be any better.
I want to tip my hat to the Carterville High School softball team. It was simply a great season and the last game has to be one of the greatest of its kind ever played. Finishing 32-2 is a great accomplishment. The girls and coaches are disappointed in losing a 15 inning battle with Nashville, but handled it with class. Brett Diel did a superior job in his time as the softball coach and we wish him well in his new position as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director.
The MLB Pennant races are beginning to heat up. How many would have predicted that Houston would be leading the AL West at almost the beginning of June or that Minnesota would be only a half of a game back in the AL Central? Not I, that is for sure.
We are in the middle of a very wet period. We have had 49 rainouts, so far, this season. This does not count an additional seven that have been lost to Tri-C teams scheduled in Herrin.
We have been lucky and dodged the bullet a few times, but we may not be as successful in the future. Tri-C is committed to making every effort to see that all teams that are scheduled for 16 regular season games get to play at least 12 of those. We, also, will do our best to ensure the Pre-K plays at least six games.
With a limited number of make-up dates, we will need the cooperation of the coaches in order to reach this goal for all the children. It may be that we will, also, have to look at Sundays in the second half of June to be utilized.
